Spatial Game Overview

Climb It is a fast-paced speedrun game designed and developed in collaboration with the Verse technical director.

Inspired by the viral "Only Up," this game offers an exhilarating journey through a vertical world, requiring players to navigate a series of challenges and obstacles while collecting power-ups and wearable items for enhanced abilities.

The project showcases my expertise in conceptualizing and creating immersive environments tailored to the limitations of WebGL and the Spatial SDK.

Key Contributions

  • Environmental Design and World-Building
I led the design and creation of the game's vertical environment, crafting diverse settings and atmospheres throughout the climbing route. This included integrating transitions between zones to maintain player engagement and evoke a sense of progression. The design struck a balance between visual richness and performance optimization within the constraints of Spatial SDK.

  • Collaboration with the Technical Director
While I focused on the artistic and environmental aspects, my collaboration with the Technical Director ensured seamless gameplay. Their expertise in visual scripting and object interactions, combined with my designs, delivered a cohesive and engaging experience.

  • Integration of Collectibles and Enhancements
The game features interactive elements such as collectibles and wearable items, which grant power-ups. These elements enrich gameplay and offer players a strategic edge in completing the course faster.

Impact and Future Directions

Climb It demonstrates the Verse team’s potential to develop a metaverse game within the Spatial platform, merging creative level design with technical execution. Its reception highlighted the importance of integrating immersive visuals with gameplay mechanics, even within the constraints of browser-based platforms.

Looking forward, the success of Climb It paves the way for further experiments in metaverse gaming, with plans to introduce more advanced levels, multiplayer options, and expanded item customization.

Looking ahead, I aim to expand this concept, exploring new collections and interactive features that elevate the user experience while setting new standards for design in virtual spaces.
